She is a first-generation Mexican American and native Houstonian who strongly believes in working collectively to develop equitable and sustainable solutions to address issues at the core of the problem. Her grassroots and advocacy work in underrepresented communities has made an impact in transportation, housing, and in addressing the social determinants of health. In addition to her work at Latinos for Education, Sandra serves as the President of the Gulfton Super Neighborhood Council, is a Fellow of the American Leadership Forum Class XLVIII, member of the National Forum for Black Public Administrators, was a candidate for Houston City Council in 2019 and serves on various boards and committees.">
