With those four words, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona showed his cousin Alex how simple it really can be to support those who identify as LGBTQ.
Alex, a transgender man studying cinema at the University of Hartford, joined his cousin, U.S. schools head honcho Cardona, for a Pride Month interview to discuss how schools can become significantly more welcoming places for their LGBTQ students.

Always remember, being an ally to LGBTQ people is not some big, complicated thing most of the time. It’s all about treating people like they’re people. Respect them and get to know them. In other words, just have their back.
