Today we connect with Dr. Meisha Porter, President and CEO of The Bronx Community Foundation and former Chancellor of NYC Public Schools to discuss the importance of community support in education. Having held many roles in the education sector, she shares where she believes the most impact can be made.
Dr. Porter shares her journey and what inspired her to become an educator as well as her current work with the Bronx Community Foundation. She explains how other place-based organizations can best support schools and the educational needs of students in their community.

Dr. Meisha Porter is the inaugural President and CEO of The Bronx Community Foundation. Dr. Porter was previously Chancellor of the New York City Department of Education, the largest school system in the nation. As the first black woman to take on this role she was responsible for educating 1.1 million students in over 1,800 schools.
