What To Know About the Changes to AP African American Studies

In this special edition episode of Building the Black Educator Pipeline, host Shayna Terrell and Dr. Greg Carr (Chair of the department of Afro-American studies at Howard University) attempt to bring some much-needed clarity to the controversy surrounding a pilot AP African American studies course.

The course has been in the news recently following attacks from Florida governor Ron DeSantis and right-wing groups claiming it is "indoctrination." Following these attacks, the College Board released an updated framework for the curriculum that some have claimed strips some of the most important parts, essentially "caving" to the anti-woke attacks. But, Dr. Greg Carr helps set the record straight on what is actually in the curriculum, how it can be taught, and the continued attacks on teaching the truth in America.
